![]() Founded by the Umbrians on a raised plain left to the Tiber, it became allied to Rome. Destroyed in the first century A.D. the inhabitants moved along the Tiber on the Flaminian Way where they founded a Roman town. During the Barbarian invasions people took to the highlands for refuge and also to avoid the flooding of the Tiber. The area is rich in Roman ruins. The nearby castle delle Formiche dates from the 13th century. |
