Visible From Some Distance Is The Tower Of The Medieval Castle

Visible from some distance is the tower of the medieval castle of the Knights of Malta. The name comes from the French word for house - maison- and was built in the 1300's on the ruins of a Benedictine monastery. Legend says that from here a message was taken to Genghis Khan. Then the cavaliers of San Sepolcro thus erected their " maison" here in the 1300's on the ruins of a Benedictine abbey. It was the work of the Bolognese architect F. Fioravanti. From the other side of Magione you can see the Lombard tower, which is presently being restored.
