Perhaps It Was The Roman Centre Of Helvilium

Town: Fossato di Vico

Perhaps it was the Roman centre of Helvilium on which the Count Lupo of Nocera founded a castle just before 1000. In the first half of the 1200's both Gubbio and Perugia battled to control it, Perugia succeeded and mantained power until the 1500's when the Duke Cesare Borgia, known as Valentino, conquered and sacked the town.
