Mummified Corpses Of Pilgrims Have Been Found Intact

Is a small town from the 8th century, where mummified corpses of pilgrims have been found intact, due to certain environmental conditions. it crosses the Nera river which divides into two smaller communities which are protected by two fortresses. It belonged to the families Cybo and Ancaiani from Spoleto.
Abbazia di S. Pietro in Valle Is where the Duke of Spoleto lived , as he retreated here to pray and consequently founded the convent, he died here in 728 although the abbey dates from 1000 the walls of the nave have frescoes in the Roman style with scenes from the Old and New Testament. Also houses some Roman sarcophagus as well as one attributed to Faroaldo. The bell tower from the 1200's is similar to Lombard towers , but it has many elements taken from other constructions.
