![]() On the old via Tiberina and the E 45, it is about 10 km south of Perugia and is the city of the ceramics, famous from as far back as the thirteenth century. The historic centre is high up on a hilltop and is Roman in origin. Deruta was fought after by the various important individuals for its ceramics and the documentation can be found in the recently built Ceramic Museum in the old part of the town . The nearby secluded church of Madonna di Biagio is entirely covered with ceramic offering from the 1600 and 1700's . Since... and Baglioni . During the salt was it held Perugia hostage and the Pope rewarded it by exempting it from taxes for a few years. Since the year 1000 it belonged to Perugia and became a fortified town. It was fought over by Braccio Fortebraccio and then much later by Cesare Borgia, and Baglioni. Ripabianca nearby is famed for its garden and kitchen terracotta and for its excellent designs and quality. |
