A Splendid Medieval Hamlet On a Hill, Closed in By a Wall And Ramparts On The Slope Of The Hill

Is 408mt high and a splendid medieval hamlet on a hill, closed in by a wall and ramparts on the slope of the hill . It was under the city of Perugia in the early Middle Ages but in the first half of the 1500's it became a part of the church territories, therefore under the Duke of Corgna. It has some beautiful churches with important works of art: the Chiesa di S Maria has the Annunciation and Nativity by Perugino. The well-restored streets and houses offer a great insight into the post with respect for the present. Nearby is the tower Del Vescovo which is a 1300's castle where the bishop lived and Pope Leone XIII went in the summer last century. The church of San Cristoforo from the 1500’s was built on the ruins of an Etruscan temple.
