![]() Nearby is 297 mt high and famed for its Roman origins and paintings from the 1500's. The area is covered with olive trees and olive presses. The name comes from the castles nearby, from which it developed into a medieval hamlet. The church of Santa Maria has painting sfrom the 15th century Umbrian school. In the surrounding area it is worth visiting the Pieve di S. Gregorio (12th century), the castle of S. Giavanni which was built by Cardinal Albornoz (mid 14th century) and the ruins of two other castles. |
