Town: Avigliano Umbro

Famous for the fortunate discovery of the fossil forest of Dunarobba. Which is also from the Roman era a town on via Flaminia and Ulpiana and from the fossiled remains it is also evident that people from the bronze age lived here, also tombs from the Etruscans. Founded by the Longbards it was restored completely by Bartolomeo D' Alviano, where his castle with 6 towers still stands. It used to believed that the town was from the Middle Age but recent excavations found remains from Etruscan tombs. The castle with 6 towers, founded by the Lombardic descendance of Count Offredo and was restored by Bartolomeo D' Alviano. The place was subject to the Orsini princes but also the Farnese family and the Borgias resided there in a palazzo that is now gone.
