Early Imperial Roman Domus
After the earthquake a domus romane of the first imperial age was found during restoration work on Palazzo Giampè and the house of the Latin poet, Propertius, discovered last century under the apse of the church of St Maria Maggiore. These two jewels of the highest artistic value and remarkable refinement, unique in Umbria, can be viewed from February to June, thanks to the co-operation between the Commune of Assisi and the Office of Archeology of Umbria. |
