![]() When, in 1223, St. Francis in Greccio staged the first performance drew the first living Nativity iconography of the Holy Family. In order not to lapse into mere listing of the many nativity of our region, we recommend you visit some, chosen for their characteristics. The "Nativity in the Pozzo della Cava" in Orvieto, open from December 23 to January 12, is one of the most impressive, built in the caves of the well 36 meters deep, with life-size cartoon characters. At Calvi Umbria, in the Church of St. Abate, is worth visiting the monumental nativity scene and polychrome glazed earthenware, made by James and Raffaele Montereale (1546). Near Foligno you can see the crib and the mechanized pudding, always beautiful, the Colle dei Cappuccini. Many spaces and environments of our region can truly impressive productions. The crib in the basement of the Renaissance Palazzo della Citta della Pieve to Corgna offers from forty years of color setting by special lighting effects. Spina (Marsch) the crib is made in the castle in Todi in Roman cisterns, a Piediluco shines on the lake. The cribs living have increased and are represented in many places. A visit can find out touring a live nativity scene of Petrignano of Assisi, which for decades along the Chiascio evokes aspects, characters and environments of the Nativity. Cribs are on the road to Perugia, Corciano, Trevi, Montone, in the park of Vittorina (Gubbio), Assisi, Cascia, Citta di Castello, Montegabbione, Spello, Trevi. The crib artistic Frattuccia (Guardea) opens as a way of light in search of peace. Among the crib we remind those in the great Basilica of San Francesco and Santa Chiara and the crib stunned by Domenico Paci (1830) in Santa Maria degli Angeli (Assisi), those living in the basement of San Domenico (Perugia); the crib poliscenico Collevalenza (Todi), that of St. Ubaldo (Gubbio).
