| Scheggia And Pascelupo | |
![]() Another area inhabited since ancient times. As shown by the numerous archaeological findings, thanks to its position between the Chiasco and Sentino valleys. It was an important station in Roman times on the Flaminian Way for transit between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas. In the Middle Ages it was under the dominion of Perugia, Urbino and the Vatican. The steep and harsh landscape has many abbeys like that of S. Maria di Sitria (12th century) at the bottom of Mt. Catria.. Very famous is Ponte a Botte (bridge), built in 1789 which has a diameter of 22 metres. |
