![]() Given its strategic position on the Flaminian Way, it always had a defensive and surveillance function as one can see from the remains of the first medieval fort. It had been occupied by the Perugians and by those from Gubbio. In the 1400's it was given to the church. The architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini designed another defensive structure, il Rellino. In the woods nearby there are some isolated abbeys.
