The kites return to colour the skies in Castiglione del Lago from april 30th to may 4th.Kites and hot air balloon lovers will make their way once again this year from all over Italy, as well as from many European countries, to Lake Trasimeno for this international event. From April 30th to May 4th, "Coloriamo i Cieli" event, one of the most important kite and hot air balloon festivals, organised by the Municipal of Castiglione del Lago in collaboration with the Trasimeno Kite Association near the ex-military airport area of the city in the regional Park of Lake Trasimeno. Over one hundred hectares of uncontaminated nature will host this XVII Festival which will include many different fun activities dedicated to flight. But that"s not all! has by now become a group of events aimed just as much at telling the story of Trasimeno. It has become a chance to reflect on themes related to the environment and protecting and educating people about this territory. Among the new events of this 2008 edition: an exhibit of "flying frescoes", small hot air balloons created with tissue paper and decorated by hand; an international radio-commanded hot air balloon race with balloons from all parts of Northern Europe. The Festival will once again welcome back numerous events giving life to local products and cooking, such as the "Trasimeno Quality" market fair and tasting laboratories, school-involved events, a kite and educational toy market fair, the naturalist theme cinematography exhibit which will include participation from famous journalist Sveva Sagramola, and the freeing of birds of prey organised by the Lipu Trasimeno association. And there"s more! A "game bus", hot air balloon flight, an environmental and children"s literature fair, walks dedicated to art, land and water nature walks and much, much more. The events will close in style on May 4th with the very first preview of the 2008 Trasimeno Blues festival.
